Why should you put a glass of water on your nightstand?

After months of fittings, tears, and dreams stitched into every seam, I finally picked up my perfect wedding dress. It was everything I imagined: elegant lace, intricate beading, and a silhouette that made me feel like a bride even before the big day.
Wanting it safe and untouched, I hung it carefully in our guest room closet — the one place no one ever goes. Or so I thought.
That Sunday morning, just a week before the wedding, I opened the closet to admire it again… and froze. Right down the center of the bodice was a massive, blackened iron mark. The lace was scorched, the beads melted into hardened clumps. My dream dress — ruined.
Panicked and heartbroken, I called my fiancé, Adam. He was just as confused and upset. Nothing else in the house had been touched. No signs of a break-in. Just the destroyed dress.
Desperate for answers, I checked our home security footage — never expecting what I’d find. But when I saw the culprit on the screen, my stomach dropped.
It was someone I trusted. Someone I never imagined would do something like this.
